JF Cooper School PTA is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2013-14 PTA Grant Program, which is a competitive program offered to all staff to fund projects or supplies that directly benefit students and enrich classroom learning. The projects included:
“Reading Rug Readiness” for co-first grade teachers Brianna Morris and Marie Taylor
The new classroom carpet will be used for “whole body listening” for many aspects of the day.
Lego Education – Mind Storm NXT for Jennifer Sedlock on behalf of the school library and Talented & Gifted Program
Fifth-grade TAG students will utilize this higher-level robotics platform to increase their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and experiences.
Get Ready to Read for third-grade teacher Marie Saurez
The reading center carpet will enhance the group reading experience and increase the comfort level of students, who often work collaboratively in small groups on the floor.
Book Bins for Classroom Libraries on behalf of Anita Balabon, Literacy Teacher Coach
Some 180 book bins will be placed in 14 classrooms so that classroom libraries are more accessible for students. This will serve approximately 225 students.
The total costs of grants was $2,119.70. Teachers were required to be PTA members and discuss their applications with Mrs. Price before submitting them. This is the third year in a row that PTA has sponsored this program. We were pleased with the quality of grant applications and proud to continue this wonderful partnership with our teaching staff.
